Today's blog is going to be about some of the products I've recently stumbled upon and some that I've been using religiously. All of which I LOVE!
Being 32, I definitely notice my skin and body aging, and it sucks. All of it. At the same time, I can honestly say I've never felt better. I feel sexier now then I did in my twenties. And that is a great thing. (Hopefully I'll feel the same in my forties)
I've never really been a HUGE fan of plastic surgery, something that is so common nowadays. I'm not against it at all and don't want to sound like a hypocrite. I've have a breast augmentation and have always contemplated a nose job. There is nothing wrong with it. I just feel like people take it over board, especially when it comes to their face. At the age of 25, girls are getting botox, and crazy lip injections and chemical peels, and they are caking on tons of make-up. To each is own, but I feel like there should be a limit to things.
I believe in natural beauty and I believe everything starts from your confidence and how you feel about yourself. If you don't learn to love yourself and feel good from within, nothing you do will help.
With that said, I've always been CRAZY about taking care of my skin. I guess you can say it started from puberty. I was fortunate enough to have zero acne. But witnessed many of my peers and family suffer from it. That always motivated me to take care of my skin. I've tried many products and have always tried to keep things to a minimum.
I'm not that girl that wants to do things 50 times a day and and use a 100 products. I hate that. I don't have the patience for that, let alone the time. Things need to be simple and effortless with me.
First things first, analyze your skin. You need to find products that work for you. What may work amazingly on me, may be horrible on your skin type. I have extremely dry skin. Especially since I've moved to Los Angeles. My skin is also sensitive. I break out easily (not with pimples, but with tiny little bumps under my skin). I initially started buying products for dry, sensitive skin. And everything was the exact opposite. All the products made my skin feel oily which would in turn, clog my pores.
Understand, you have to got through trial and error with different types of products. What I'm going to share with you, are things that work amazing with my skin. They might night work for you. So if you get something, based on someone else's recommendation, don't be disappointed if it doesn't work the same for you. Try something else.
Here are some great products I've been using, and absolutely loving.
Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Aging Buffing Beads.
Given that I have dry skin, I was a little nervous to use this. I was scared it would really dry my skin out. It has salicylic and glycolic acid. Both great for breakouts and aging skin. I use this once a day, and after two weeks, I've noticed a huge change in my skin. I chose to get this one with the buffing beads, they have this in a gel cleanser as well, because it exfoliates your skin as well. My skin looks and feels smoother and brighter. My skin also does feel dry after I use it, but the next product I've posted takes care of that. This is available at www.Sephora.com, which is where I got it. I'm pretty sure www.Amazon.com sells it as well.
The Chanel Hydra Beauty Serum
I don't know what it is about this, but I absolutely LOVE this. I've tried everything. From La Mer to Vaseline. This product Hydrates my skin, but doesn't make me feel "Oily". I don't feel like I'm wearing anything, and I love that. When you go to the make-up counter, they want to sell you everything. Don't fall for it. I've been told I need to use a moisturizer after this, then SPF. Thank you but no thanks. Like I've mentioned before, this is it, and this instantly hydrates me. I buy mine from www.Bloomingdales.com, but again, I'm sure it's available on Amazon.
P.S. You can always Google any of these products to read the ingredients and reviews that many others have posted.
Fresh Brown Sugar Bod Polish and Sugar Lip Polish
Once you use this, it will be hard to use anything else. The Body Polish, exfoliates and hydrates. Its amazing to use before you shave. Or after. I use this every other day. It works perfectly for my dry skin. The Sugar Lip Polish is AMAZING! I hate cracked lips. Yes, I said the word hate. Use this every day after you brush your teeth (if you brush your teeth) in the morning or at night, and you can say good bye to cracked/dry lips. The body polish runs you about $38.00 for the small size and $65.00. The sugar lip polish is $22.50. You actually use very little of the product, so it ends up lasting you a long time. If these are too pricey, which I totally understand, it's actually very easy to make your own.
Homemade Brown Sugar Scrub:
Its easy, always remember the ratio 2:1
Two parts brown sugar to one part oil.
You can use coconut oil, almond oil, etc… or mix your favorite oils. Your call. So if you 2 cups of brown sugar, add 1 cup of oil.
Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil and any Vitamin E Oil
Oh Josie, I've fallen in LOVE with you. I've recently started using this (About 6 months). You can use it on your skin and hair, which is great. I light the light one, because its not as concentrated as the regular. I don't like to feel or look oiled up. I put this on at night and let it soak into my face, neck, and hands. Yes hands. Because you can see the aging happening there as well. Everything I do to my face and neck, I do to my hands. Anyhow, I can feel my skin just soak this up. It's great. You can find it at Sephora for $58.00.
I Love this. Its great for dry skin. I use the Vitamin E on my hands, feet, knees and elbows. Sometimes, I wear gloves and socks to really lock the moisture in. You can also add it to your favorite lotion for some extra moisturizing. I always have it in my bag. I use it on my lips. Its a great product all around. You can even use it in your Homemade Brown Sugar Scrub. Any Brand works great, I tend to gear towards organic ones. A bottle will run you $8.00.
Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM
Ok, seriously, when I found out about this product, I felt like I died and went to heaven, literally. I've worked in a pharmacy for eight years, and we sold a lot of the Acne cream Retin-A to young teens. I started to notice that a lot women in their 40's and 50's get this product, which was a bitt odd. I did some research, spoke to my dermatologist, and I was told it works wonders on wrinkles. Its basically Vitamin A. (You can google it for more info/drug facts). I got excited and tried it. It killed my skin. It not only dried my skin, it made my skin peel and burn. It was the worst (for me).
I then learned about this. Which is over-the-counter. You need a Prescription for Retin-A. This is amazing. It doesn't not dry my skin out, its easy to apply, and just after a week, my skin changed completely. It also contains Vitamin C and E. Which is great. It has no smell. And it runs you about $65.00 (Totally worth it!) I also use it on my neck and hands. Never forget the hands.
Last but not least (sorry this Blog has been so long), my absolute FAVE,
Chanel's Vita Lumiere Aqua Compact, period.
I can't stand the cakey look, or when people pile on their cover-up and foundation. This is my go-to everyday cover-up, if I wear coverup that day. (Sometimes its good to let your skin breathe). It goes on like a liquid and dries like a powder. I have tried EVERYTHING and this just works for me. I don''t think it looks nice when someone looks like they are wearing makeup. Its a trend: Use a primer, use foundation, use a cover-up, Conceal, highlight, contouring. I'm sorry, its not for me. I can't get into it. I'll write another blog about this later on. But this Chanel compact works great. It's light and thin. I don't feel or look like I'm wearing so much make up. And Guess what? When you take care of your skin, you won't need a lot of make up. This compact is about $60.00 and lasts me about 4-5 months.
Hope you guys enjoyed this blog. Can't believe I wrote so much and bored you. (Hopefully not).
Always remember, there is no expiration date when it comes to confidence.... and confidence NEVER goes out of style. How up-to-date are you?
